St. James has a thriving and vibrant music program with many different opportunities to share your musical talents. Whether you sing, ring bells, play an instrument, or just want to learn, there is a spot for you in one of our ensembles!

Members of our musical groups have a wide variety of skill level, ranging from beginners to professionals. We are all on an educational journey together, working and learning to be the best musicians that we can be; everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us.

The Chancel Choir is comprised of adult volunteers who sing at the 10:55 worship service each Sunday, and for special or seasonal events. Each year, the choir performs several major works. Past performances have included Mozart’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living.

For the 2018-2019 season, we will  be performing Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, John Rutter’s Gloria, and more.

Come and be part of a welcoming musical family.

Rehearsal: Wednesdays 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the Choir Room

(Childcare is available as needed.)

The music wing at St. James UMC is abuzz on Wednesday nights with singing!

We offer a graded choir program for children four years through sixth grade. Students learn the joy of praising God through music and will have the opportunity to share their gifts with the congregation (approximately once a month). The children also perform a musical in the spring semester.

After practice, bring your entire family and join us for Wednesday Night Supper.

Children are welcome to join at any time of the school year.

Rehearsals resume on Sept 11, 2019.

At St. James, we strive to include as many people as we can into our music program. If you play an instrument and are interested in sharing your talents in worship, please contact Michael Ervin.

This is an exciting new initiative that hopes to give our teenagers and young adults an opportunity to offer their talents in worship. These students will perform music from many genres, leaning towards modern styles of worship music. We are looking for any student who sings or plays an instrument of any kind. Those who are interested should contact Michael Ervin.
