December 2017

Join St. James United Methodist Church for a special musical experience this Advent season. On Sunday, December 10, in the 10:55 a.m. worship service, the Chancel Choir and Orchestra will present two settings of the Magnificat, or Mary’s Song, found in the Gospel of Luke. These two starkly contrasting works, by Franz Schubert and Francesco Durante, bring to life the joy and reverence of this ancient text. We hope you will be with us in worship on December 10, as we celebrate Advent and prepare for Christ’s arrival!

Longest Night Service

This year’s Longest Night service will take place on Thursday, December 21 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. The holiday season can be a time of great joy, but for many, it is also a time of sadness and pain. St. James’ Longest Night service takes place annually on the longest night of the year, and is particularly designed to provide an environment of quiet and reflection for those who have experienced loss, or for whom this time of year is difficult. Gather with us in the Sanctuary for readings, meditative music, and reflection – and come and go as you feel led.
