Plan to take a break with the women of St. James UMC to connect with God and one another at the beautiful Serenbe Farms. Since 2004, Serenbe has cultivated 10 acres of farm-land and are in the process of nurturing and restoring soil on an additional 15 acres. They have produced over 300 varieties of heirloom and hybrid vegetables, herbs and flowers, and harvest over 60,000 lbs of produce a year. They are proud to be one of the first of only 103 certified organic farms in the state of Georgia. Guided by their desire to enrich quality of life, Serenbe Farms operates within this three-part mission; to provide nourishing food for our local and greater community, offer meaningful hands-on education for all generations, and build community through food and farming.
Rev. Anjie Woodworth is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church currently co-pastoring Neighborhood Church in Candler Park. Anjie is originally from Decatur and has served a variety of churches throughout North Georgia. Anjie loves to craft, create and to hear and share stories of how God shows up in the middle of real, messy life.
This retreat will be a day of connecting with one another in the midst of our own real, messy lives to see where God is calling us as women and as followers of Christ. And, we’ll get to eat some delicious organically grown treats straight from the farm in the process! The deadline to sign up is January 10. Scholarships are available (contact Elizabeth for more information).
If you would like to extend your trip for the weekend, you can obtain a group rate to stay at Serenbe Farms by letting them know that you are with the St. James UMC group. There are individual rooms as well as cottages available on the property. https://serenbeinn.com/
