Brookhaven Toastmasters
Tuesdays, 6:45-8:00 p.m.
Do you get stage fright?  Have a big presentation coming up that’s got your stomach in knots?  Practice your public speaking with us at Toastmasters!  This is a great opportunity to improve your communication and leadership skills in a constructive and supportive environment.

Yoga Classes Wednesdays @ St. James UMC in Room 304

12:00-12:50 p.m.

Interested in trying yoga or finding a class that’s easy to fit into your schedule? You are invited to sign up for yoga to be offered as a 4-week series at St. James. The class will be held on Wednesdays (January 15, 22, 29, February 5) from 12:00-12:50 in classroom 304 on the third floor. Please bring a yoga mat, small towel and water (wear comfortable leggings/yoga clothing). The class will be taught in a flowing, vinyasa style suitable for beginners and intermediate students. *Classes cost $12/session and you can send payment via Venmo to @Katherine-Remmert. Minimum of 3 students up to a maximum of 10.

1:00-1:50 p.m. 

A class for all-level practitioners that focuses on foundational yoga postures and teaches students how to breath with purpose. Students can expect a gentle flowing yoga that begins with a warm up, moves into a flow, then concludes with stretching and a relaxing savasana. Please bring a yoga mat and the instructor will provide yoga blocks for those wanting modifications. 

The instructor for this class, Katherine Remmert, earned her 200 hour RYT certification through Pranic Soul yoga school.

$10 per class.

“The Family Kitchen” – Adult Cooking Classes

Join Rachel Carbley from St. James Wednesday Night Supper to learn homemade classics for your Family Kitchen!

Classes will meet each week to prepare a meal focusing on fresh ingredients, classic
recipes and that home cooked feel. Free up your Thursday nights with your family while enjoying your meal prepared in class.

This class is designed for beginner to intermediate level home cooks who would like
to learn more about food and cooking techniques while having fun. All necessary menu items and equipment will be provided.

Rachel is a 25-year restaurant industry professional with extensive experience in cooking, catering, serving, wine and spirits.

Sewing Basics Mini Course

A fun introduction to sewing terms and procedures using “mini” sized American Girl Doll patterns

You will make apparel and accessories in smaller sizes so that the emphasis is on learning in an equally condensed amount of time. This class will focus on how to cut out and sew retail patterns as well as cutting out projects using dimensions as you would for home decorating projects. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own pint-sized American Girl, theses projects will make great gifts. I will provide dolls for fittings as well as all the materials and patterns. If you have your own sewing machine you are welcome to bring it to class if you know how to thread it and have a basic knowledge of your machine. I will provide sewing machines that we will share. Class is limited to 6 participants.

Dates: Tuesdays in February (4,11,18, and 25) 9:15am – 11:15am
